Guilinger Finishes 5th for Chargers at Monmouth Spring Invite

Sophomore Hayley Guilinger (Thomson, Ill./West Carroll) tied for fifth overall to lead the Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team at the Monmouth Spring Invite on Saturday at Gibson Woods.
Guilinger shot a 15-over-par 87, leaving her five shots back of medalist honors, which was shared by Dubuque’s Daniela Miranda and Knox’s Shelby Keen. Sunday’s final round was canceled because of inclement weather.
Madison Newton (Erie, Ill./Erie) came in at 17th for the Chargers with a 93, and Emily Franzoni (Canton, Ill./Canton) was 24th with a 96. Renee Scheider (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) shot an even 100, and Kaylyn Stearns (Gilson, Ill./Knoxville) came in at 113.
The Chargers, playing without Jaeden Workman, who was out with a back injury, finished fourth with a 376 total. Dubuque won the event with a 346.
